In five years between May 2009 and 2014, I wrote 85 posts in four different blogs. Under Blue African Skies, the Summing Up , Blurs and Bright Spots and Balis Blog. This blog combines all those posts.

New House
Abhishek and Pallavi are currently house-hunting in Gurgaon, in anticipation of his move in a month.
A continent away, Sid is also moving into his new 'house' today. On reaching Cape Town, Sid appears to have hit the ground running - completing his college registration, joining classes and now shifting into his one-room accommodation! As I key in these words, he is preparing for his first class test, scheduled for Monday.
Sid has promised pictures of his house. Soon.

Sid Is In Cape Town Now
This morning, just as Chachaji was disembarking from the Singapore Airlines flight at Delhi, Siddharth was somewhere between Dubai and Cape Town. He later landed there to begin an important phase of his life - or as he put it 2300 days of solid hard work! He is currently staying with family friends - the wonderful Parkers - and will move into his apartment in a couple of days. His college is already on. All the very best Sid!
Chachaji is here for Rita's son Mayank's wedding. This morning, over barfi and alu ka parathas, weight of 'certain' family members was the object of much of the conversation! All this wonderful display for our collective concern for health just hours before everyone launches into an unbridled orgy (sorry but this word describes it best) gluttony as rich wedding-cuisine is imbibed in obscene quantities!
And as this goes to 'press', the news is that Abhishek is relocating (Army guys 'get posted', most people 'move' and those in the corporate world 'relocate) to Gurgaon. The transition will happen in a month or so. Finally, he moves from what-the-Army-would-have-called the 'non-family station' of Mumbai to join up with Pallvi.
More on this later.....

Sid's On His Way!
One flew out of the cuckoo's nest!
Sid is on his way to Cape Town. He left for Delhi early today and will finally leave India on the evening of 14th. We woke up early (for a change) to see him off. As you can see from the pictures below, Sid is more than happy to be moving away from his parents. In the background of the first picture, his Dadi is making a brave attempt to surmount cold and arthritic pains to see him off. In the second picture, while he continues to smile at his freedom, Neeti is less than happy to see him go. And Ginger is trying to climb up all of six-feet for a last lick!
Sid's Dadaji waved him goodbye from his bed. And I am behind the camera!

Abhishek is flying in from Mumbai to meet him at Delhi and will be around till the 14th (there is also the small matter of the Valentine's Day coming up, remember?!)
Sid leaves just a day before Chachaji arrives from the US; his college has already opened and he wanted to rush off to ensure he did not lose any time.

About Our Blog
As Siddharth gets ready to board his flight to Cape Town on the 14th, I have been thinking of starting a blog that keeps not just him but all the family members in touch with each other. There is, of course, the alternative of emails but I thought that a blog was a much more comprehensively connecting medium. So, here it is....our blog.
Separately, you would have received invitations to be authors on this blog. Please accept that invite and as and when you want to share the going-ons in your life, come here and write a post. Or upload a picture. Or do both!
I have so configured the blog that its members (Rakesh Chachaji, Neeti, Pallavi, Abhishek, Sid and I) will automatically receive each post in their Inbox.
The name of the blog is tentative and all creative suggestions are welcome. As are any recommendations on its looks and layout etc.
Incidentally, this evening in a restaurant, Neeti, Sid and I discussed possible names. We also chatted with Abhishek. But the names - Bali Belly, Bali Nama, Bali Daily (to name three of the many wacky suggestions) - indicated to me that the serious business of christening the blog will eventually fall on my tender shoulders!
Please feel free to write a new post or comment on other posts. It does not matter how routine or mundane the conversation is.....everything is welcome. (Among other things, I will be regularly sharing my weight and Ginger's antics, for example!) When you write a post, do mention your name at the end of it so that everyone knows who the author is! And yes, pictures are most welcome!
A tip: if you want, after you have written your post, click on the link 'Schedule' on the right and fill in date and time. Then click on Location, fill in yours in the box, click Search - so that your location gets recorded too. These are optional steps and can be ignored without any anxiety!
So, here we go!
